Brasilianska plantage står i dagsläget för en tredjedel av världens export av kaffe. Det kom därmed inte som en överraskning att priset på kaffe kom att rusa när regionen under det gångna året drabbades av både torka och frost. Under en sexdagarsperiod i juli rusade priset på Arabica bönor med 30%. Torkan och frosten i Brasilien har lett till en förlust av skördar på 1,5 millioner kvadratkilometer odlingsbar mark – en yta lika stor som Peru. Över en halv milliard kilo kaffebönor har gått förlorade – tillräckligt för att brygga varje amerikans kopp av kaffe under en fyramånadersperiod. Hur tror du att priset kommer att utvecklas framöver?
